Samoset Math Students Get 'Empowered'

From Sachem Schools: To review lessons taught throughout the school year in an exciting way, seventh-grade math students at Samoset Middle School in the Sachem Central School District participated in hands-on activities as part of the Empower program.

The initiative incorporates engaging, standards-based math fluency activities that implement daily math practices. Students worked collaboratively in groups, rotating through multiple stations utilizing manipulatives such as dice, a deck of cards and dominoes to answer a plethora of math questions. The wide-ranging activities reinforced a strong understanding of the concepts students would encounter on the day of the final.
