Selden Man Caught Driving Drunk With 12-year-old In Vehicle On Long Island Expressway In Holbrook: Police
He was previously convicted of DWI in 2022, and was charged under Leandra's Law, Suffolk police say.
HOLBROOK, NY — A Selden man was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law after he was caught driving drunk with a child in his vehicle in Holbrook on Saturday, Suffolk police said.
Darwin Guevara-Zavala, 30, was pulled over in his 2002 Honda on Long Island Express Drive South, and was additionally charged with child endangerment for having a 12-year-old boy in his vehicle, according to police.
Guevara-Zavala was previously convicted of DWI in April 2022, police said.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges, online court records show.
He was represented by the Legal Aid Society, which does not comment on cases.

Leandra’s Law is named for 11-year-old Leandra Rosado, who died from injuries after she was the passenger of an alleged drunken driver in 2009.
