Several Cats Rescued From Farmingville House Fire

BREAKING: Five fire departments battled the blaze Thursday night.

No injuries were reported and several cats were rescued after a Farmingville home went up in flames Thursday night.

The Farmingville Fire Department was alerted for a residential fire alarm on Arden Lane at about 8 p.m. Upon arrival, Chief Gus Grammenos was met with heavy smoke and visible flames from the front of the home.

Fire officials called in assistance from the Holtsville, Selden, Ronkonkoma and Centereach fire departments to the scene. With strong efforts from the firefighters despite heavy rain, the fire was quickly knocked down and under control by without further incident.

About half a dozen cats were safely rescue from the home by firefighters. Fire officials requested Suffolk County Police to secure multiple firearms that were discovered in the home. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
