State Police Looking To Crack 43-Year-Old Murder Case
A 17-year-old college student from Long Island was found dead in a field on Nov. 28, 1974. Police are still searching for her killer.

In its latest edition of "Cold Case Tuesday," New York State Police are renewing attention on the 1974 murder of a Long Island college student.
On Nov. 2, 1974, 17-year-old Katherine Kolodziej, of Ronkonkoma, was reported missing from the campus of the State University of New York at Cobleskill.
Kolodziej was last seen at about 1:30 a.m. leaving the Vault Tavern on Main Street in Cobleskill. She was observed walking in the direction of the campus which is located about a mile away from where she lived as a freshman.

Kolodziej never returned to her dorm room and was reported missing by her roommate later that morning.
On Nov. 28, the body of Kolodziej was found in a field about 150 feet from McDonald Road in the Town of Richmondville in Schoharie County. She had been stabbed multiple times, police say.

Investigators from the State Police Troop G Major Crimes Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation Unit at SP Princetown have made a concentrated effort to solve the murder and they continue to ask for the public’s assistance.
