Student-Authors Named Semifinalists In National Book Challenge

Students in Corinna Niski’s class at Cayuga Elementary School in the Sachem Central School District were recently named semi-finalists in the Studentreasures Publishing’s National Book Challenge, for which the students worked collaboratively to publish their very own book, “Care About Kindness.”

As part of the contest, the students worked together to brainstorm, create a rough copy, revise and illustrate a book to publish focused on kindness. Each student created an individual page of the book where they shared ways to spread kindness through big or small acts.

The students’ creative literary work has now moved on to the finals, and on June 15 they will find out if they won the challenge. The top three placing schools will receive grant money to be used to support school activities and initiatives.
