Here are the top three stories in Sachem today:

  1. Sagamore Middle School students look to make school lunch changes. Three students advocated to add bottled water to the menu as part of their Seal of Civic Readiness project. The Seal of Civic Readiness is a formal recognition on a student's diploma showing that a student recognizes the value of civic responsibility, civic values and civic engagement. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Weekend weather forecast shows a cold Saturday. Temperatures will be in the 40s today but drop down to 20 degrees overnight, leading to a cold day Saturday. Sunday will be milder with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 40s. Enjoy your weekend! (Weather.com)
  3. ICYMI: Suffolk County Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 reward in a fatal hit-and-run on LIE in Ronkonkoma. Robert Twiford, 61, of Melville, was hit and killed last year when he got out of his car at Exit 60 of the LIE. The driver left the scene and stopped a short time later to inspect his car, which you can see photos of in the link. (Sachem Patch)
