Suffolk To Pay Nonprofits By Check In Wake Of Cyber Attack: Report
As officials still operate on paper, the county's most critical vendors for social services will be prioritized, Newsday reports.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — As Suffolk County continued to operate in an old school manner — still using paper one week after a cyberattack — officials worked Thursday to pay vendors by check, making nonprofits that perform social services a priority, Newsday reported.
Comptroller John Kennedy told the outlet that his staff was working with the county's bank on paper checks to send to vendors on Friday. The county's departments plan to handle paper invoices while working with Kennedy's office on the most critical payments, County Executive Steve Bellone's spokeswoman Marykate Guilfoyle told the outlet.
The county's vendors will be paid, but Guilfoyle did not know when, the outlet reported.

Kennedy told the outlet officials would address the "most immediate and critical needs" with the checks.
He said the non-profits have hundreds, if not thousands of workers "who are integral to the delivery of the range of services that we provide and pay for."
