Suffolk PD Logs 52 Crashes, including 8 Hit-And-Runs, Since 12 AM

YAPHANK, NY — While Long Island was pummeled by rain, Suffolk police logged in 52 car crashes — eight of them hit-and-runs, on Tuesday.

The crashes were logged in between midnight and 3:20 p.m., police said. It is not clear if any of the people involved in the crashes were seriously injured.

Police could not provide a comparison of crashes from the previous night.
