Suffolk Police Investigating Drive-By Shooting In Centereach
A Jeep's driver shot one round at a man and woman before speeding off, cops say.
CENTEREACH, NY — A 42-year-old man was struck by debris that ricocheted off the floor during a drive-by shooting in Centereach on Sunday morning, Suffolk police said.
Police said that at about 10 a.m., the South Setauket man had been driving a 2019 Chrysler 300 southbound on North Washington Avenue, when he stopped at a stop sign and a dark gray or black Jeep SUV approached the car from behind, crossing into the northbound side of the road to pass the car.
While passing the car, the Jeep's driver shot one round at the car striking the driver’s side door, "causing debris to ricochet off the door and strike the driver," police said, adding, that the Jeep was driven away from the scene and headed south.
