FARMINGVILLE, NY — Members of embattled Suffolk County's Reapportionment Commission is at a standstill over two voting map proposals that have been released ahead of public hearings next month, Newsday reported.

The commission, which is supposed to be bipartisan, is stalled along party lines as it draws up the county's 18 legislative districts, with four GOP members supporting a map crafted by David Schaefer of the Schenectady-based Skyline Consulting and four Dems supporting a map they commissioned by Democratic consultant Keith Davies, the outlet reported.

The drafts are available on the commission’s website.

The commission was deadlocked in a 4-4 tie Monday, but did decide on something — its co-chairs, Emily Pines and Jamir Couch, will meet before the Sept. 13 and 15 public hearings to try to agree on a map, Newsday reported.

The pair told Newsday they were optimistic about cooperating and moving forward.
