Here are the top three stories today in Sachem:

  1. New report shows Suffolk's IT department got millions for security before Sept. 8 cyberattack. News 12 obtained information that nearly $4 million was given to the IT department and allocated by the Legislature for technology upgrades, computer replacement and disaster recovery projects on March 8. Earlier this week, a special legislative committee was formed to investigate what cause the attack and how taxpayer money is used to prevent another attack. (Sachem Patch)
  2. A fight broke out between student and teacher at Sachem North High School. It has been reported that the student initiated the fight but no charges have been filed. The school district told News 12 that it was aware of the incident and it has been addressed. (Sachem Patch)
  3. Expect beautiful weather today followed by rain Sunday in your weekend weather report. We hope you enjoy the sunny skies today and mild temperatures closing in on 70 degrees. Sunday brings rain all day and temperatures closer to the weekend. Let us know your plans for the weekend in the comments! (Weather.com)
