'ISIS' Labeled Suitcase Causes Scare in Farmingville

The suitcase was empty and there was no threat after officers responded to a "suspicious package" Friday morning.

Farmingville, NY — A suitcase reportedly labeled with the acronym of the Islamic State terrorist organization was found on Mooney Pond Road in Farmingville Friday morning.

Suffolk Police said they responded to the scene, just east of Cleveland Avenue, at 8:45 a.m. on a report of a "suspicious package."

"It was determined that there was nothing inside and there was no threat," a police spokesperson told Patch.

Police did not specify what the "suspicious package" was, but Newsday reported that it was a metal suitcase with the acronym "ISIS" written on it in tape.

The SCPD's Arson Squad is investigating, and anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
