SYAG Lacrosse Weekend Roundup

News, notes, and highlights from Sachem's SYAG Lacrosse games from the past weekend.

1st Grade vs East Islip

On Saturday, SYAG's first grade lacrosse team played its best game of the year when they took on an East Islip squad. SYAG defeated East Islip 7 to 4. It was a great overall team effort. East Islip took an early 2 to 0 lead and SYAG stormed back with 4 unanswered goals. The offense was led by James Coramilas, Zack Marko and AJ Carlo. Coramilas played his best game of the year and looks better and better every week. He added 2 goals and played incredible defense. Zack Marko was incredible once again.
Matthew Rotolo was awesome in goal and made a huge save on a fast break. Matthew also made a save off a shot that hit the post and landed on the doorstep of the goal then alertly clamped down on it before it crossed the plane.
The SYAG defense came up big once again and were led by newcomer Logan Williamson, who might had the play of the game when East Islip came down on a fast break and Logan poke-checked the midfielder causing a huge turnover. As always, AJ Carlo was stellar on defense and was able to score from his defensive position.  The coaches were elated with the victory and the effort.

2nd Grade vs Sayville (Purple)

The 2nd grade boys had a tough day on Sunday squaring off against a excellent Sayville team.  The efforts of Aaron Young, 2 saves, and Matthew McCarthy, 3 saves, in goal would not be enough, as SYAG fell 7-3.  The 2nd graders saw some since individual performances.  Jacob Brand and Jeremiah Slaven each collected a ground ball and made a nice defensive plays.  Stephen Kirk recorded a goal and a ground ball.  Alex Singh collected two ground balls, and scored a nice goal off of an excellent pass by Andrew Macchio, who added a ground ball as well.  SYAG's third goal came from the stick of Nick Meoni.  The team hopes to bounce back with a solid effort next week.

What a beautiful day for lacrosse game and the SYAG boys came ready to play.  The defense was lead by Tyler Gallo, Shaun Ayers, Patrick Bell & Dalton Lawerance,  who made some great plays that let these boys win there 3rd game of the season.  Let's not forget some outstanding stops between the pipes by Brandon Pazienza.  The offense made some great plays moving the ball around.  Congrats to Aaron Singh for getting his first goal of the season.  We had some great play by our middies who put a total of 5 goal in the cage. Our attack played a great game putting in 5 goals as well.  The did a great job clearing the ball and riding E. Islip causing numerous turn overs.  The kids all had fun and enjoyed playing in the sun.
