SYAG Lacrosse Weekend Roundup
Highlights, Scores, and Notes form this past weekends SYAG Lacrosse games.
1st Grade vs SSC:
The SYAG first grade lacrosse team played a tough SSC team. The improvement made by SYAG was greatly noticeable.
The SYAG offense was led by Zack Marko, James Coromilas and Justin "the birthday boy" Silon who all scored goals. Silon's goal was his first of the season and was incredible feat as took the ball from the midfield line thru several defenders and into the back of the net.
The defense was led by Gavin Brooks and Jack Lippl, who were tough and fierce on defense. The middies played good hard defense led by Coromilas who forced several turnovers. Nicholas Trotta, Zack Marko and Matthew Rotolo caused a few turnovers as well.
SYAG's new goalie was Thomas "the Tank" Gianotti, who played in net for the first time and looked like a savvy veteran in the cage. He made miraculous saves and kept the game close. The coaching staff is extremely impressed with the development of this young team.
2nd Grade vs North Babylon:
The SYAG 2nd grade team played an outstanding game this past Sunday. The team moved the ball on offense and played sound defense to beat North Babylon 5-2. The offense saw five different goal scorers, as Jermiah Slaven, Jason Kassis, Justin Ortiz, Kyle Price, and Stephen Kirk all score goals. Alex Singh and Sammy Leonard did a good job creating offensive chances and feeding their teammates when needed.
On defense, Andrew Macchio, Shane Marconti, and Nick Meoni all made nice stops, and Aaron Young contributed with a excellent clearing pass. The coaches were happy to see hustle on both ends of the field. Jack Meadows, Frankie Angilly Tyler Guiliano, and Jack Kidger both showed improvement playing midfield, hustling up and down the field, getting in on ground balls, and playing sound defense. As always, Matthew McCarthy was a rock in the cage backstopping the team, and making big saves when needed.
This win was a true team effort, and the coaches can tell the players hard work in practice is really paying off come game time.
