Accountant now at location on Broadway Avenue.
For about eight years, Thomas Brown has been providing the Sachem community with many different financial solutions. The firm offers personal tax return preparation, tax work, accounting for businesses and financial planning.

When Brown works with a client, he said he makes sure to offer them very personal service. He meets with them for an interview, then communicates with them regularly. He said that is one of the things that differs his firm from competitors such as H&R Block.
"I think we have a skill-set here that sets off any other small CPA firm," he said.

In addition to tax work for his firm, Brown also offers tax consulting for some of Long Island's largest corporations. He also does tax provision work for largescale corporations within the metropolitan area.
As for cost, Brown said pricing depends on how much he works with a client.
"I know I'm not the most expensive guy on the block, but I know I'm not the cheapest," he said. "I'm right in line [with others]."
Brown first started working out of his house when he opened his own firm, then eventually moved to an office in Ronkonkoma. He said the move from Ronkonkoma to Holbrook has improved business.
"When I left Corporate America to start my own business, that was very exciting," he said. "Opening and starting this office was [also] a big thing."
At his new office, Brown now has two employees to help with day-to-day operations.
Prior to opening his business almost a decade ago, Brown worked for Enlarge International Accounting Firm. He also worked for a Long Island client as a tax director for 10 years. Brown was an adjunct professor at Stony Brook University, where he taught accounting and taxation.
In addition to working in Holbrook, Brown lives there as well. He is a member of the Holbrook Chamber of Commerece where he networks with other members and refers clients to them, and vice versa.
"A lot of the guys helped me get [this] office going," he said. "The Chamber was real helpful."
Brown holds a Bachelor's degree in accounting and a Master of Science degree in taxation from Long Island University and an MBA in finance from Dowling College.
