UPDATE: Westbound LIE Re-Opened in Holbrook

A tractor-trailer struck an overpass early Wednesday morning.

HOLBROOK, NY - The westbound Long Island Expressway in Holbrook has re-opened after a tractor-trailer slammed into an overpass.

The accident occurred at 4:36 a.m. Wednesday at the Exit 61–Patchogue-Holbrook Road overpass, police said.

The trailer portion of the truck, which was being driven by a 50-year-old man, hit the overpass and then overturned, police said.

Police had said the LIE would be closed until 8 a.m. Thursday, but repairs were completed quicker than expected.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, owned by Middle Island-based Sears Ready Mix, was not injured in the crash, but he was issued two summonses, police said.
