Two People Killed in Holbrook Crash

Suffolk County Police confirm 2 people are dead after a crash on Woodside Avenue near Patchogue-Holbrook Road Saturday night.

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad Detectives are investigating a crash that killed two people,
and injured another person in Holbrook last night. The accident happened on Woodside Avenue, just east of Patchogue-Holbrook Road at approximately 10:30pm, Suffolk Police said.

Jose Perez was driving a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound on Woodside Avenue when he lost control of
the vehicle, left the roadway and crashed in a wooded area at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Perez, 45, of Patchogue, and Luis Antonio Banegas, 39, of East Patchogue, a passenger in the backseat of the vehicle, were transported via ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where
they were pronounced dead.

Carlos Sarmiento, 34, of Patchogue, a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing.
