- Holbrook resident one of six to win 'Brookhaven Recycles Day' prize. Councilman Neil Foley presented a compost tumbler to Joan LaFemina as one of the winners from the online contest. For more information on contest, click the link. (Press Release Desk)
- 11 former union reps plead guilty to accepting bribes. The reps would take envelopes full of money that were passed off in restaurant bathrooms throughout Suffolk County. Two charged were the business agent-at-large of the UA's Local 638 based in Long Island City and a business agent of the UA's Local Union 200 based in Ronkonkoma, according to prosecutors. - Selden man convicted of drug trafficking. Marlon Thompson, 41, was convicted on all four counts of an indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine base, as well as the distribution of fentanyl that caused the death of Fredrick Koenig, 36, of Selden on Christmas Day 2018, prosecutors said. - Checkers to open four new locations in Suffolk County. The first opened last week in Lake Ronkonkoma and the chain plans to open the other locations in Shirley, Brentwood, and Central Islip. (Sachem Patch)
