UPDATE: Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Car in Lake Ronkonkoma
Police say the bicyclist swerved in front of a car Tuesday night.
A 51-year-old Bohemia man riding a bicycle in Lake Ronkonkoma Tuesday night was struck and killed by a car, police said.
According to police, a 23-year-old Ronkonkoma woman was driving a 2014 Nissan east on Portion Road, near the fork with Lake Shore Road, when her vehicle struck Luis Benitez, who had swerved into her lane of traffic as he was traveling west on Portion Road.
Benitez was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
