WATCH: Police Dispatch Robots to Investigate Suspicious Backpack at Farmingville Burger King

The threat was unfounded, but the restaurant and surrounding parking lots were closed for more than two hours Sunday.

Suffolk County Police were called around 4:30 p.m. Sunday to the Farmingville Burger King after a worker noticed a suspicious black backpack that was left outside the front entrance.

The worker said she had opened the bag and saw electrical wires, then closed it back up and called 911.

Police evacuated the Burger King, which is located at 2250 North Ocean Avenue, secured the surrounding perimeter and then sent a canine unit to check the building and three robots to investigate the backpack.

The Burger King and surrounding parking lots were closed for over two hours during the investigation. Nothing dangerous was found inside the backpack.
