Waverly Avenue Students Study Planets And Our Solar System

Students created posters to share the elements of their selected planets.

Fifth grade students in Cathy Juliano’s class at Waverly Avenue Elementary School in the Sachem Central School District recently completed a collaborative project where students researched planets and the solar system.

As part of the project, students utilized Chromebooks to select and research the size, distance from the sun, and time of one rotation and revolution around the sun. Culminating their projects, students created posters to share the interesting elements of their selected planet and compared the similarities and differences of their peers’ selected planets.
