The single-car crash occurred Monday afternoon.

A 30-year-old woman was critically injured in a single-car crash on the Long Island Expressway in Farmingville Monday afternoon, police said.

According to police, Winterjane Preston, of Islandia, was driving her 2011 Hyundai west on the LIE when she apparently lost control of her vehicle and struck a guardrail at about 12:45 p.m.

The vehicle then went off the roadway and onto the north shoulder at Exit 62–Nicolls Road, police said.
