Woman Killed, 3 Others Hurt In Long Island Crash

One person was killed and three others hurt in a head-on crash Sunday afternoon, police say.

HAUPPAUGE, NY – A woman was killed and her husband seriously injured in a head-on crash in Hauppauge Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, 32-year-old Patrick Chestnut was driving a 2014 Mazda east on Nesconset Highway when he attempted to make a turn onto Route 111 at about 12:15 p.m. His car crashed head-on with a 2017 Honda that was traveling west on Nesconset Highway.

The driver of the Honda, Robert Sheehan, 73, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. His wife, Lorraine Sheehan, 70, was transported to St. Catherine’s of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown where she was pronounced dead.

Chestnut, of Fairfield, Ohio, and his passenger Karma Spear, 31, of Bay Shore, were both transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Fourth Squad at (631) 854-8452.
