Woman Killed in 4-Vehicle Crash on Sunrise Highway
BREAKING: The chain-reaction crash started when a 22-year-old driver rear-ended two vehicles Saturday morning, police say.

A woman was killed in a four-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Sunrise Highway Saturday morning, police said.
According to police, 22-year-old Rolfy Adames was driving a 2013 Honda west on Sunrise Highway near Exit 50–Lincoln Avenue in Holbrook when his vehicle rear-ended a 2016 Toyota and a 2001 Nissan at about 5 a.m. The Toyota, driven by Maria Beltran, was forced to the shoulder. The Nissan, driven by Mercedes Banos, lost control and hit the guardrail.
The Honda spun and came to rest facing eastbound in the westbound lanes where it was then hit head-on by a 2016 Nissan driven by Melisa Umanzor, police said.

Umanzor, 28, of Bay Shore, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue by the Holbrook Fire Department. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Adames, of Copiague, was transported to Brookhaven Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Beltran, 46, of Central Islip, and Banos, 33, of Brentwood, were not injured.
All vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Fifth Squad detectives at 631-854-8552. No criminal charges have been filed.
