Woman Robbed At Knifepoint Inside A Building On Suffolk Community College's Ammerman Campus In Selden: Police
UPDATE: The college's Public Safety team responded rapidly and worked with law enforcement to apprehend the suspect, a spokeswoman says.
SELDEN, NY — A woman was robbed at knifepoint, the thief snatching her wallet and jacket, inside of Suffolk Community College's Ammerman Campus in Selden on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.
It unfolded around 8:40 p.m., when Mitchell Taylor went inside one of the campus's buildings on College Road, wielding a knife, and approached the 29-year-old employee, and demanded the wallet and jacket, according to police.
The woman complied, and he bolted from the building, police said, adding that the woman was not hurt in the attack.

She contacted campus security, which alerted 911, police said.
Detectives later identified Taylor, 32, and arrested him at his home just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, and charged him with first-degree robbery, according to police.

Police could not say how Taylor accessed the building.
No further information was available.
A college spokeswoman told Patch that "upon learning of the incident, the college's Public Safety team responded rapidly and worked with law enforcement to assist in their efforts to apprehend the suspect."
"The college immediately issued a college-wide public safety alert," she added.
Taylor was held overnight at the 6th Precinct in Selden for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
It is not known if he has legal representation.
