Woman Seriously Hurt After Being Struck by Ambulette in Ronkonkoma
It happened Wednesday afternoon, police say.
RONKONKOMA, NY – A 53-year-old woman was seriously injured after she was struck by an ambulette on the Long Island Expressway service road Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, Jacqueline Slavin was walking northbound on Ronkonkoma Avenue at about 4 p.m. and was attempting to cross Express Drive North when she was struck by an ambulette service vehicle that was traveling westbound on Express Drive North.
Slavin, of Ronkonkoma, was transported by the Ronkonkoma Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was treated for serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The operator of the ambulette and the five ambulette passengers were not injured. The ambulette was inspected for a safety check.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8451.
