Lorentz brings more than 30 years of experience in public education to the role. He began his career in school business administration and served as assistant superintendent for business in both the Longwood and Farmingdale school districts. In 2006, he was appointed superintendent of schools in the Farmingdale School District, a position he held until his retirement in 2018.

Throughout his distinguished career, Lorentz earned a reputation for sound fiscal management, thoughtful decision-making, collaborative leadership, and an unwavering commitment to student success. As a veteran superintendent, he understands the importance of building strong relationships among students, staff, families, and community members while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration.

His extensive experience and steady leadership will help ensure a seamless transition for the district while maintaining a continued focus on educational excellence.

“I am honored to join the Sayville School District and grateful for the opportunity to serve as interim superintendent,” Lorentz said. “I look forward to working with the Board of Education, staff, students, families, and community to build on Sayville’s strong tradition of excellence and support the success of every student.”
