Sayville High School Student Earns Artist Merit Award

Sayville High School class of 2026 graduate Ava Helbock was recognized with a prestigious Newsday Scholar-Artist Award of Merit. The award honors exceptional Long Island students whose accomplishments in the arts and academics have distinguished them among their peers. Recipients are selected by the Long Island Arts Alliance based on their demonstrated talent, dedication and achievement in their artistic discipline, as well as their academic success.

For Ava, music has been a lifelong passion and an important part of her personal and academic journey. Having studied music from a young age, she embraced the opportunities it provides for creativity, expression and growth. Throughout her time at Sayville High School, Ava demonstrated a strong commitment to both her musical pursuits and her academic studies, embodying the qualities recognized by the Scholar-Artist Award program.
