SAYVILLE, NY — A Sayville High School graduate has been recognized for her achievements in the arts and academics.
Ava Helbock, a member of the Class of 2026, earned a Newsday Scholar-Artist Award of Merit, the Sayville School District announced. The award honors Long Island students whose accomplishments in the arts and academics distinguish them among their peers.
The Long Island Arts Alliance selects recipients based on demonstrated talent, dedication and achievement in their artistic discipline, as well as academic success, the district said.
For Helbock, music has been a lifelong passion and an important part of her personal and academic journey, district officials said. She studied music from a young age and embraced the opportunities it provided for creativity, expression and growth.
Throughout her time at Sayville High School, Helbock demonstrated a strong commitment to both her musical pursuits and academic studies, the district said.
“We are incredibly proud of Ava for earning this distinguished recognition,” Sayville High School Principal Stephanie Bricker said. “Her dedication to excellence in both academics and the arts reflects the very best of our students. Ava’s passion for music, hard work, and commitment to her craft have made a lasting impact on our school community.”
