SAYVILLE, NY — Suffolk County police officers rescued a father and two children after their Jet Ski capsized in the Great South Bay on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The three were riding near Sayville when the watercraft struck a wave and overturned at about 3:55 p.m., throwing all three riders into the bay, police said.
A witness called 911, prompting officers from the Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau to respond aboard two vessels.
Officers Keith Miller and Robert King, aboard Marine Juliet, and Officers Gary Quenzer and Chad Murray, aboard Marine Mike, deployed life rings and pulled the three people from the water, police said.
Police identified the riders as Christopher Cruise, 31; Isabella Donoghue, 16; and Christopher Cruise, 10.
All three were wearing life jackets and were not injured, authorities said.
