LI Man Known As ‘Smiley’ Indicted In 2nd Sex Trafficking Case: DA

Torrey Brown was previously indicted in June after prosecutors said he forced another woman into commercial sex acts.

BLUE POINT, NY — A Blue Point man who was previously indicted in June on sex trafficking charges is now facing a second indictment after prosecutors said another woman came forward and accused him of exploiting, abusing and raping her.

Torrey Brown, 36, also known as "Smiley," formerly of Blue Point, was arraigned Thursday on sex trafficking and rape charges tied to a 33-year-old victim, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

Brown is accused of forcing the woman to engage in prostitution through drugs, violence and sexual assault, prosecutors said.

According to the investigation and the indictment, the woman met Brown in September 2025 and began what she initially believed was a romantic relationship.

Shortly afterward, prosecutors said, Brown took control of the woman's phone and posted online commercial sex advertisements of her. He then provided her with crack and heroin to compel her to engage in sex acts, prosecutors said.

When the woman refused, Brown withheld the drugs to induce withdrawal symptoms and physically assaulted her until she complied, according to prosecutors.

Brown stayed nearby while the woman engaged in commercial sex with buyers so he could immediately collect the money, prosecutors said. He also held the woman against her will at several motels and hotels, physically assaulting her if she tried to leave, according to the indictment.

Prosecutors said Brown also told the woman she owed him a debt for the drugs he provided, but the alleged debt was never satisfied or reduced, even after money was collected from the sex acts.

Brown is also accused of forcibly raping the woman on two occasions in January and March, prosecutors said.

The woman reported the incidents to the Suffolk County Police Department's Human Trafficking Investigations Unit in July, after Brown was taken into custody in a separate sex trafficking case, prosecutors said.

In the first indictment, Brown is accused of sex trafficking a 29-year-old woman by providing her with drugs, forcing her to engage in sex acts with others for money, preventing her from leaving a motel room for several days, punching her in the face and threatening her with a knife, prosecutors said.

Brown was arraigned Thursday before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen Wilutis on the second indictment.

He was charged with two counts of first-degree rape, class B violent felonies; one count of sex trafficking by force, a class B violent felony; and three counts of sex trafficking, class B felonies.

Wilutis ordered Brown held on $500,000 cash, $2 million bond or $5 million partially secured bond while the case is pending.

Brown is due back in court Nov. 17. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted of the top count, prosecutors said.

He is represented by Scott Zerner, who was not immediately available for comment.

"This indictment contains allegations involving a second survivor who has now come forward," Tierney said. "Torrey Brown allegedly supplied the victim with drugs, then used withdrawal and violence to force her into having sex with strangers for money. If anyone believes they have been a victim of trafficking by this defendant, please contact my office. We are here, and we will act."
