1 Of Best Wing Joints In America Is In Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Did someone say wings? Around my house, when we talk about getting wings, we have a special place we get them from — of course. And it’s usually with a large cheese pizza as a chaser. With Super Bowl Sunday coming up, no doubt many conversations will include, “Wow, where did you get these wings?”

Luckily, the editors at Thrillist recently came up with a list of “The 21 Best Chicken Wings in America,” and one of the establishments is right here in the Hudson Valley.

Along with Buffalo’s Anchor Bar, where Buffalo wings were created, Buffalo’s Gabriel’s Gate, Old Town in New York City and Pok Pok in Brooklyn, the Hudson Valley’s own Candlelight Inn in Scarsdale made the list.

Thrillist describes the Candlelight Inn as “candleless” and “not an inn,” but constantly crowded because of their wings.

According to the restaurant’s Foursquare page, the menu for wings come as mild, hot, extra hot, Chernobyl, Teriyaki, Bar-Be-Que or scampi and are served with bleu cheese and celery on request.

“Tina S,” who according to Foursquare has been to Candlelight Inn more than 10 times, said, “Wings and waffle fries … can’t get it better anywhere else. There’s a reason they have been around since the 1950s! Remember: Cash only and put your name on the seating list by the dining room entry.”

Candlelight Inn is located at 519 Central Park Ave. in Scarsdale.
