13K+ Con Edison Westchester Customers Waiting For Electricity

Con Edison said the restoration work is being hindered by floodwaters.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — More than 13,300 Con Edison customers are still without electricity Thursday, a result of the remains of Tropical Storm Ida dumping up to 10 inches of rain on the area.

As of 1 p.m. Thursday, the Con Ed outage summary website said there is no estimated time for restoration.

The Village of Mamaroneck, Rye, Yonkers, Greenburgh, New Rochelle and North Castle were among the hardest hit areas in Westchester, the utility company said.

The village of Mamaroneck has more than 3,700 customers out of its 9,000 total customers waiting for the power to come back. The town of Mamaroneck has close to 2,000 outages out of a total of 5,400 customers.

The city of New Rochelle has almost 1,100 customers without electricity.

Yonkers and Scarsdale have nearly 1,300 and 1,200 customers with no power, respectively.

Con Edison said the restoration work is being hindered by floodwaters. It has secured about 500 outside contractors who are assisting company crews in the restoration efforts.
