2-Car Fatal Collision In Greenburgh Saturday

An Atlanta, GA resident was killed after this car rolled over several times.

GREENBURGH, NY — A Georgia man was killed Saturday in a two-car collision on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the Town of Greenburgh. State Police said the crash occurred in the vicinity of Jackson Avenue. William L. Collins, 47, of Yorktown, was driving a Honda CR-V north in the center lane.

Dereck B. Coffee, 48, of Atlanta, was traveling north at high rate of speed in the right lane, police said. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

When Coffee tried to move into the center lane, he struck the rear of Collins’ SUV.

Coffee lost control of the 2001 Ford Ranger he was driving and struck the median guide rail.

His vehicle continued down an embankment, rolling over several times before coming to rest.

Coffee was pronounced dead at the scene by the Westchester Count Medical Examiner’s Office.

Collins and his passengers declined medical attention at the scene of the crash.

State Police said the crash remains under investigation and they ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Hawthorne at 914-769-2600.
