43 unincorporated tested positive...Hartsdale parking rules

Hartsdale Parking District commissioners addressing parking as a result of Coronavirus----3 hour parking limit eliminated on Columbia, Wilson. HPPD eliminated parking time limits on all meters.

MOST RECENT UPDATE - 43 residents of unincorporated Greenburgh tested positive (there is a few day backlog in reporting so the numbers could be higher)

New Rochelle has 223, Yonkers 145; Mt Vernon 70, White Plains 54, Scarsdale 35.

20,875 positives in NYS. 57,07 increases from Sunday. 2,635 patients in the hospital. 621 in intensive care and 157 deaths in NYS.

During our remote Executive Session this afternoon, the HPPD Commissioners discussed the issue of parking enforcement in Hartsdale. Based on our current situation concerning the Corona virus pandemic, we have concluded the following:

1. Parking meters continue in operation as per Chief Ryan’s directive when he eliminated the the three hour parking limits on Columbia Avenue, and Wilson Street.

2. Per the attached e-mail from Stephanie Crowe, HPPD Parking Manager, Stephanie contacted Town Attorney, Tim Lewis. Mr. Lewis indicated that since our parking enforcement personnel are an extension of the Greenburgh Police, they are considered essential personnel, and should continue their parking enforcement duties. So, our parking enforcement staff continue on the job.

3. As a convenience to visitors and residents of Hartsdale, the HPPD has eliminated the parking time limits on all meters, so that meters users can extend their parking sessions from their cell phones for as long as they need to. This arrangement will resolve the situation that a Hartsdale resident recently brought to your attention.

4. The HPPD has educated our staff on how to maintain “safe distances” while performing the most essential services to our customers. Whenever possible, working from home is advised. When maintenance and repair services are required, a single individual will be called on to resolve the situation. We are not permitting our staff to work together during this period of heightened alert.

5. Our parking office will be staffed on a part time basis as required, and clients have been alerted how to reach the HPPD by phone of e-mail if necessary. Phone messaging and e-mails are monitored daily.

As this difficult situation is new for all of us, the Commissioners are in contact daily to continue to update our emergency operating procedures as developments require. I will continue to keep you advised as any changes are made or operating guidelines are updated.
