Met Opera Singer to Perform at Scarsdale Woman's Club
The Scarsdale Woman's Club will present the soprano Anita Johnson, an internationally acclaimed opera singer, in a concert of arias and song this Wednesday at 2 p.m.

The Scarsdale Woman’s Club will present the soprano Anita Johnson, an internationally acclaimed opera singer, in a concert of arias and song on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m.
Her accompanist on piano will be Chun-Wei Kang. The concert will take place in the music room of the Club, which is located at 37 Drake Road in Scarsdale. Admission is free, and the public is invited.
Miss Johnson’s many recent appearances include engagements this year with the Metropolitan Opera in “Carmen” and “The Queen of Spades” and last year in “Ariadne auf Naxos,” roles with The New York City Opera, and a Brahms’ “Requiem” with the New York Choral Society. She performs a wide variety of roles in opera houses here and abroad and has been resident coloratura soprano with Germany’s Nationaltheater Mannheim.

A sought-after concert and festival soloist, she appears with symphony orchestras around the world. Westchester residents have had the opportunity to hear her in Handel’s “Messiah” with the New Choral Society of Westchester. In 2009, Miss Johnson joined Stevie Wonder in a performance at the White House at which time Wonder received a lifetime achievement award presented by President Obama.
Anita Johnson has achieved an impressive level of artistry and high praise from critics who also admire her dramatic presentation, which has been called “pure,” “charming,” “gorgeous,” “electric” and “magical.”
