The victim has now been identified by authorities as Marian Green.

The Scarsdale Police Department said the victim's 26-year-old son, Chester Green, was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with second-degree murder.

According to the felony complaint, Green caused the death of his mother, at their shared Fox Meadow home, by stabbing and beating her multiple times about her body with a sharp object and with a blunt instrument.

"Like everyone in this county, I am shocked at the horrifying death of Marian Green and the manner in which she was killed. This tragedy is only further compounded by the familial relation between the victim and suspect in this case," Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacacesaid. "My office has charged Ms. Green's son in connection with her murder, and we will seek to ensure that justice is achieved for her through this prosecution. May she rest in peace. I would also like to recognize the dedicated work of all the detectives and investigators who have pored over this case non-stop since the discovery of Ms. Green's body. Their steadfast work is what enabled us to bring today's charges."

Green was arraigned this afternoon at White Plains Hospital, and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.

"I would like to commend the work of my detectives, the Westchester County Police and the District Attorney's Office for their careful investigation of this case," Scarsdale Police Chief Steven DelBene said.

The Scarsdale Police Department said it continues to investigate this case with the assistance of the Westchester County DA's Office and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Forensic Investigation Unit. Police said additional charges could still be filed.
