Next meeting: Future Leaders of Greenburgh this Wednesday at 7 PM at Greenburgh Town Hall
Speaker: Marsha Gordon Business Council of Westchester
Earlier this year I started a mentoring program for residents interested in becoming future leaders of the town of Greenburgh. We meet monthly, hear from interesting speakers and are starting to encourage participants to assume leadership positions in our community. The Governor's Regional representative, Luke Powell, spoke at one of our sessions. Last month we heard from Barrett Seaman, former White House correspondent of TIME Magazine and editor of the Hudson Independent. Tarrytown Village Trustee Ken Herzog also spoke at one of our sessions. And, this summer we heard from a leader of the NY League of Conservation Voters.

Our next mentoring session will be held on Wednesday evening, October 7th at 7 PM, Greenburgh Town Hall. Featured speaker will be Marsha Gordon, leader of the prestigious Business Council of Westchester. Marsha is the leader of the most influential business organization in Westchester. She led the effort to build the Mario Cuomo Bridge (was President of Build the Bridge Now which helped fast track the building of the replacement of the Tappan Zee bridge). She has served as co-chair of the Mid Hudson Regional Economic Council and was named the third most powerful person in Westchester County by City & State NY. I will ask her to provide those who attend the meeting with tips on how to be effective advocates and to share her experiences – how she became such a success.

Dr. Gordon also lives in Greenburgh! Our session will last about an hour.

We started our Future Leaders of Greenburgh program in January. This is a non partisan group. Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, Working Families members are all invited to participate. The goal: To encourage residents to participate in our democracy--to get involved, to eventually run for office or hold positions of leadership. Many of our participants are in their 20s, 30s or early 40s. But this is open to anyone. E mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com if you'd like to participate or if you want more info.
