Dr. Preeti Kishore of Scarsdale, a board certified endocrinologist, has joined WESTMED Medical Group, a Purchase-based multi-specialty group medical practice. She received her medical degree from Sarojini Naidu Medical College in India and completed her residency in internal medicine at the Jacobi Medical Center Department of Medicine. She was a fellow in endocrinology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Currently, she is also assistant clinical professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and attending physician at Montefiore Medical Center.
Dr. Kishore is a key member of a research team at Albert Einstein College of Medicine whose findings about the brain and glucose production were published in the prestigious Journal of Clinical Investigation. Her Einstein research team demonstrated for the first time that the brain is a key player in regulating glucose (sugar) metabolism in humans. The findings suggest that drugs targeting the brain and central nervous system could be a novel approach to treating diabetes. The study findings also got picked up by “Kurzweil Accelerating Intelligence,” a special Web site for science innovation.
