Animal Rescue Seeks Homes For More Than 30 Puppies After Emergency Intakes Westchester

Paws Crossed Animal Rescue in Elmsford says emergency rescue efforts left it caring for more than 30 puppies in need of homes.

ELMSFORD, NY — If you have a little extra love to give, now is the time to put it to good use.

Paws Crossed Animal Rescue in Elmsford is asking the community to consider adoption after taking in an unusually large number of puppies in recent weeks. The nonprofit said it now has more than 30 puppies available for adoption following multiple emergency rescue efforts.

According to the organization, the influx followed urgent calls for assistance from rescue partners facing critical capacity challenges. Paws Crossed said it stepped in to help transport puppies and relieve overcrowding at those partner rescues. The group said the puppies available now represent a range of sizes, ages and personalities.

Jennifer Angelucci, president and CEO of Paws Crossed Animal Rescue, said the rescue responded quickly when other groups needed help. “Our team never hesitates when fellow rescues need help, and over the past several weeks we've welcomed puppies from a number of different rescue situations,” said Jennifer Angelucci, President and CEO of Paws Crossed Animal Rescue. “These gorgeous puppies are healthy, loving, and ready to start the next chapter of their lives. With summer upon us, it's the perfect time to welcome a new furry family member into your home. The longer days, outdoor adventures, and extra family time make this an ideal season to bond with a new puppy.”

The organization said each adoption helps in two ways. It gives a puppy a permanent home and opens space for future animals that may need rescue care. Paws Crossed is also asking members of the public, businesses, community groups and media outlets to share the adoption appeal with others.

The rescue said people looking for “a hiking buddy, a couch companion, a playful family pet, or a loyal best friend” can find puppies now available at its Elmsford location. The appeal also notes that other dogs, cats and kittens are available through the organization.

Paws Crossed was founded in 2015 and describes itself as a nonprofit, no-kill rescue organization based in Elmsford. According to the organization, it has saved thousands of pets through adoption services, community partnerships and educational programs.
