Bin Laden's Death "A Relief" to Local Members of the Islamic Circle of North America

Members of the Westchester-based New York chapter of the Islamic Circle of North America reacted to the death of Osama Bin Laden today saying they were relieved.

"First and foremost our thoughts go to the families of those who were killed, and to everyone who was affected by the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center," said Omar Ranginwala, secretary for the New York chapter of the Islamic Circle of North America, which is based in Westchester.

"One of our members was killed that day. He worked on the 96th floor. Our thoughts are with his family as well."

Ranginwala said he was struck by the statement this morning from the Vatican. Islam’s teachings are much the same, he said.

"Whenever someone is killed, use it as a reason to reflect," Ranginwala said. “It’s really quite a relief - it’s been 10 years. It’s been a long time. Hopefully this will bring a lot of our troops back home. I have a few good friends who are over there and if you know anyone who’s there you just think about the dangers. I want them to come home safely.”
