Burglary Spree Hits Scarsdale, Eastchester Border

The crimes have mostly occurred during the overnight hours, according to Eastchester Police.

Several burglaries have occurred in recent weeks in Scarsdale, just north of the Eastchester border, according to police, and residents are being advised to be careful.

Eastchester Police sent a message to residents Wednesday alerting them to the thefts, which have mostly occurred during the overnight hours. The exact number of burglaries was not disclosed.

“Our Department continues to urge residents to take precautions that will reduce the risks of being victimized by these, and other, crimes of opportunity,” wrote Eastchester Police. “By following the recommendations below, you will lessen the chances of being victimized and assist our Department in keeping your families, property, and neighborhoods safe from these opportunistic criminals.”

The Eastchester Police recommend the following:

  • Keep doors and windows (especially 1st floor) locked
  • Contact police when you observe motion lights activate or hear suspicious sounds overnight
  • Report suspicious persons/vehicles immediately
  • Keep valuables out of view of 1st floor windows/doors (computers, tablets, pocketbooks, jewelry,etc..)
  • Leave lights on timers when you are out
