Census 2010: Changing Demographics for Scarsdale

Scarsdale saw a slight decrease in population since the 2000 U.S. Census.

The U.S. Census Bureau has released 2010 Census data for Scarsdale.

Overall, Scarsdale’s population decreased by 657 people.

Scarsdale only saw slightly notable demographic shifts in terms of race. Since 2000, those identifying as white alone declined from 14,594 to 13,648, whereas those identifying as Asian alone decreased from 2,241 to 2,220. Individuals that identified as black alone decreased from 263 to 242

Although still a small part of Scarsdale’s total population, Hispanics saw the largest population gain, jumping from 467 to 671, followed by individuals categorizing themselves as some other race alone increasing from 35 to 79.

The Native American and Pacific Islander population remained roughly the same, decreasing from 4 to 3, and those who identified American Indian and Alaska Native decreased from 5 to 2.
