Central Taxi of Scarsdale postpones closure - till sometime in March

We should use the extra time to come up with alternatives so that service can continue

Some positive news!!! Peter Blier, manager of Central Taxi, advised me that because of the overwhelming response from the community in support of Central Taxi the company's owners have decided not to close on February 28. They are postponing the possible closure of the business till sometime in March --with the hope that they will be able to come up with alternative structure ideas and funding to keep the taxi company operational. An idea that was suggested to me --the possible creation of a taxi co-op.

Some reasons why it's important to save Central Taxi:

If you are a parent with a young child, would you trust an Uber or Lyft driver to take your child to a destination when you don't know anything about the driver?

Senior citizens who are not computer savvy may not know how to use a Uber or Lyft app.

Nanny's and caretakers for the elderly who don't speak English or have credit cards prefer using a Taxi company - with drivers who have served the community for many years.

Central Taxi is used by many Greenburgh residents who live in Hartsdale, Edgemont, Ardsley and the rest of the town.

We want people to know that we are

not closing 2/28/25, but it is a very

limited extension, invested in to

seek alternative structures and funding.

Thanks, Peter Blier

> Thanks to in large part to your efforts, the owner has agreed to pay the insurance down payment necessary for us to operate past the end of the month. He is trying to give all parties here time to get together and find a path forward. It’s not a big window, but a necessary one.
