Charter Company Grounded After Deadly Crash Fights Suspension

The New Year's Eve crash in Costa Rico killed 12 people, including four members of a Scarsdale family.

SCARSDALE, NY — Nature Air, the charter airline that was grounded after a New Year’s Eve crash that killed a Scarsdale family, plans to hire new personnel to resolve safety concerns. Three empty positions — operations director, safety officer and training officer — led the civil aviation authority to pull the company’s operating certificate, the Journal News said.

Nature Air General Manager Nelson Vega said candidates have been identified to fill the jobs.

Twelve people, including two crew members, were killed in the crash. Among the dead were Bruce and Irene Steinberg of Scarsdale and their sons Matthew, William and Zachary.
