Scarsdale's Students Receive Academic Honors

Sure, a school-issued paper certificate celebrating your child's good grades isn't a tall, shiny trophy or a stack of scholarship money -- but it's still a source of pride. Below is a list of local students who have recently received academic honors at their colleges or high schools. Don't see any names you recognize? Colleges

Colgate University 

The following students from Colgate University are recipients of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2011 fall term at Colgate University.

To be eligible for the Dean's Award, a Colgate student must achieve a 3.30 or higher average while enrolled in four courses.

• A member of the Colgate class of 2014, Marissa Rae Lafayette, is the daughter of Mr. Mark S. Lafayette Mrs. Lisa M. Lafayette. Lafayette is a graduate of Edgemont Jr.-Sr. High School.
• A member of the Colgate class of 2014, Santina Anne Scarcella, is the daughter of Mr. Anthony J. Scarcella Mrs. Jeanne E. Scarcella. Scarcella is a graduate of Scarsdale High School.
• A member of the Colgate class of 2015, Lauren Emily Bender, is the daughter of Ms. Carolyn Bender . Bender is a graduate of Scarsdale High School.

Farleigh Dickinson University

• Raquel Rossi, of Scarsdale, NY, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham, located in Madison, N.J. has been named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2011 Semester.

Ithaca College

• Helen Greenberg, daughter of Charles Greenberg and Amy Stern of Scarsdale, a senior Culture and Communication major, was named to the Dean's List at Ithaca College's Division of Interdisciplinary Studies.
• Amanda Frey, daughter of Barry and Felicia Frey of Scarsdale, a sophomore Communication, Mgmt. & Design major, was named to the Dean's List at Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications.

Marist College

• Connor Lawrence, of Scarsdale, NY, a member of the Class of 2015, was named to the Marist College Dean's List for the Fall 2011 Semester.

Quinnipiac University

• Adriana Chiappelli of Scarsdale, NY was named to the dean's list for the Fall 2011 semester at Quinnipiac University.To be eligible for dean's list status, a student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis (A through C) to be eligible. Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester.

Rider University

• Marcella Scalise of Scarsdale, NY, a sophomore Secondary Education major, was named to the Rider University Dean's List for the Fall 2011 Semester. 
• Brian Stahn of Scarsdale, NY, a junior Marketing major, was named to the Rider University Dean's List for the Fall 2011 Semester. 

Honorees must earn a grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale, while completing 12 or more credit hours of classes during the semester.
