Edgemont Woman Found Dead on Panamanian Island

A frantic search for Catherine Johannet around Panamanian resort Isla Colón ended when authorities announced her body had been found Sunday.

The backpacking tourist had told friends Thursday she was headed to a beach on a nearby island, according to Newsroom Panama. She was due back that afternoon. Friends plastered posters around the region and the search involved agents of the National Police, the National Civil Protection System and the Bocas del Toro Fire Department, as well as volunteers from the community, Newsroom Panama reported.

A world traveler, she had taught at Ivyprep in Hanoi, Vietnam, and had interned in various programs in the United States, and Portugal.
