Scarsdale, NY – What a better way to take a bite out of National Chip and Dip Day,
March 23, 2011, than to visit the Post Office in Scarsdale where you can dip out of line to try the new Automated Postal Center. Customers visiting the Scarsdale Main Post Office, 29 Chase Rd., can now experience the Postal Service’s version of the ATM that provides quick, easy, and convenient access to postal services around the clock, seven days a week.
“We look forward to customers dipping out of line to try our new APC,” explained Scarsdale Officer-In-Charge Kim Meyers. “Using a combination of services, including our new lobby center or our usps.com online services, your mailing is in the bag with us in so many ways. What better way to celebrate than on National Potato Chip and Dip Day.”
On Wednesday March 23, 2011, the Scarsdale Post Office will cut the ribbon on its Automated Postal Center. Automated lobby services complement online services by bringing mailing and shipping services to customers when the regular window is closed.
“An APC provides easy access to about 80 percent of all postal products and services the same way ATMs provide access to banking services,” explained OIC Meyers. “We know folks are busy. The APC and online services are ways to fit your postal business into your day, whenever the fit is right.”
The Scarsdale Post Office will host its ribbon cutting event from 11am – 2pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
The APC enables customers to conduct business at their convenience.
Using credit and debit cards, the APC enables customers to:
- Send items via Express, Priority, and First-Class Mails, as well as by Parcel Post.
- Pay for a P.O. Box
- Buy self-adhesive stamps.
- Weigh, calculate and purchase postage for items weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Purchase insurance up to $500.
- Look up ZIP Codes and obtain Postal Service mailing information.
- Purchase additional services ie: Signature Confirmation, Certified Mail, and Return Receipts.
- Obtain a receipt for your transaction.
“Customers also have 24/7 access to their Post Office Box mail,” said OIC Meyers
