Three members of the Scarsdale Art Association, Gina Thorne, Barbara MacDonald, Janet Patterson, and Phil Wallace will take you through the paces of how to create, and keep an illustrated travel journal. You'll learn about needed materials and equipment, how to select suitable sites, and you'll review different journals, learning how the artist interpreted a scene, in and around New York, and abroad.
Artists and writers have kept journals since pens and paint were invented, and you don't have to leave home to keep one. "Travels" can be to the park, a museum, or the back yard. Regardless, the journal is an illustrated account of trips, meanderings and observations that are more personal than what a camera can record, or what words alone can capture.
Join us for what will be an interactive, lively workshop that will inspire you to try your hand at journaling. Light refreshments will be served.
