FBI, Indiana Police Investigating Possible Tips in Disappearance of Edgemont's Spierer

The Indiana University student went missing in 2011.

Indiana police are being assisted by the FBI in an investigation connected to the 2011 disappearance of an Edgemont student who was attending Indiana University.

The Indianapolis Star said an FBI spokeswoman confirmed the agency’s assisting Bloomington police in the search for Laura Spierer.

Spierer, who was 20 at the time, went missing June 3 at 4:30 a.m.

She was last seen in Bloomington as she was going home to her apartment.

Patch reported that surveillance cameras showed that Spierer never made it home and her keys were found several blocks from her apartment.

Neither the Bloomington police nor the FBI would confirm the exact location of the search.

However, FIOS1News said other law enforcement agencies said there was a search of a truck belonging to a registered sex offender—Justin M. Wagers—who is currently in jail.

Wagers’ attorney said his client has no knowledge of the Spierer case.

Local media said the search included the use of cadaver dogs, FIOS1News said.
